Kirby Short Cup 
Purpose 
Opportunity for talented Under 19 players to play against others of similar age and skill. 
Opportunity for high performing players to experience leadership and enjoy strong performances.
Challenge and develop 2nd Grade/strong Paul Pink Shield players and encourage learning from 1st Grade peers. 

Position 
The Kirby Short Cup will be a Premier Cricket Pilot Program in 2021/22. 
Premier 1st and 2nd Grade remain the pathway competitions relevant for selection in Queensland Cricket squads. 
This position is intended to maxmise the strength the of Premier 1st & 2nd Grade, ensure fairness to clubs which do not yet have teams in the Kirby Short Cup and protect against player movement. 

Competition Format 
Teams: Wests, Wynnum, Valleys, Sandgate
9 rounds T20 matches + finals spread across the season. 
Played weekday or Saturday nights under lights.
Support growing demand for playing opportunities. 
Balance cricket and life commitments. 
The number of rounds aims to balance playing opportunities and risk of cricket fatigue. 

Key considerations 
Under 19. 
Minimum age 14 years old.
Nine players per side.
